Netflix has made it a bit of a habit lately bringing back shows from the dead. In addition to Arrested Development and its upcoming revival series Fuller House, Netflix announced that they are in negotiations to bring back the beloved CW show, Gilmore Girls. All judgments aside, this does beg the question, what will be the next series to get the Netflix revival treatment?

Here are a few shows that through time or fan effort have earned a spot on that shortlist.

1. Chuck

After accidentally uploading his brain with the world’s greatest secrets, Nerd Herder Chuck finds himself up to his neck in espionage. This one spent 5 action-packed seasons on NBC with excellent humor and surprisingly good writing before it was cancelled in 2012. Behind the scenes, much of those 5 seasons were spent in turmoil with fans and production members constantly fighting to continue the show. Although they did manage to pull off a satisfying conclusion, Chuck was left open-ended enough for an epic Netflix revival.

2. Kyle XY

ABC Family's Kyle XY
ABC Family’s Kyle XY

This is one of those shows that you either really liked, or never even heard of. Playing on ABC Family (or “Freeform” as no one will ever call it) for 4 seasons, Kyle XY tells the tale of a young man who mysteriously wakes up in the middle of the forest with no belly button and a genius-level intellect. He then must discover his origins and deal with the implications of these revelations. It probably sounds weird to those who haven’t seen it before (no lies—it is), but the show managed to mingle these oddities with some pretty compelling storytelling and character development. So why the cancellation? It turns out that The Secret Life of the American Teenager matched the tone of ABC Family a little better than a genius boy with no bellybutton trying to take down an evil organization (go figure). But having ended on a pretty epic cliffhanger, it would be worth giving this one the Netflix treatment.

3. Young Justice

Let’s face it: there’s definitely no shortage of superhero shows on the market right now (Netflix included). That said, Young Justice had a unique blend of complex writing and captivating character development, that deserved more than the two seasons it got. The humor and plot twists made for some high-quality entertainment that was accessible for all age groups. Why was it cancelled? All excuses aside, the primary reason was a lack of merchandising potential. In addition to matching Netflix’s inclination towards superhero shows, Young Justice also has a loyal fanbase that has only grown stronger since its cancellation.

4. Firefly

Naturally, this Whedon western set in space had to be on the docket. After its untimely demise after only one season in 2003, Firefly just refused to go away, acquiring a film and a videogame in the process.  Although many of its stars have moved on to bigger and better things, many have expressed an interest in returning to the fan favorite world and taking another trip on the faithful Serenity. Plus, after the stress-fest that was Age of Ultron, it might do Whedon some good returning to a more episodic storytelling.
